You want the staples of your wardrobe to last for a long time, so I recommend spending extra money on the following garments:

Button up Blouse

Can be easily paired with dress pants, skirts, vests, and suits. Very easy to mix and match.

Black, grey, brown slacks & Khaki pants

Can be worn anywhere, anytime of the day and year round. Wear to work, on a date, or evening out with friends. Depending on the blouse, your look will range from day wear to evening wear.

Classic Dark Wash Denim Jeans

This is pretty much self explanatory. Denim goes with everything and can be worn anytime of the day. However, you want to invest your money into a pair of dark jeans, because it looks good with any garment. Depending on your body type, buy straight leg, boot-cut, or slightly flared. Because you are spending money on a classic pair of jeans, make sure the jeans do not fit your thighs and bottom tight. Jeans with a perfect fit are suitable for any occasion.

Black Pants or Skirt Suit

A good quality suit is great for any occasion. Anytime you need to look professional, having a black suit in your closet always comes in handy. I recommend finding a 3-piece suit, it saves money and you can mix and match.

Short-sleeved or Sleeveless Black Dress

A black dress can be worn year round, only if you buy one that is suitable for any occasion (job, banquet, date, party). The amazing thing about a black dress, is that you can accessorize it from a colorful scarf to a pair of red heels.

Black Handbag

Some women hate carrying handbags. However, you need one to carry your money, credit cards, cell phone, makeup, and other items. Some women prefer small handbags while other prefer large. Spend a little extra money on a good quality handbag, good chance you might be carrying it everyday.

The Basics

As long as you have the basic garments in a wardrobe, you can build on top of it. Every woman should own these basic garments, they are a necessity. Some people don't have the time or money to add extra clothing to their wardrobe.

I suggest the following:

Once a month, buy a trendy blouse, skirt, pair of shoes, or accessory. Slowly you will begin to notice your wardrobe building up, and finding an outfit to wear will not be frustrating.
